Our Story

Unified Tribe is an eclectic group of fascinating individuals who celebrate R&B, funk, jazz, and soulful pop with captivating songs that range from sultry slow jams to blazing dance tracks. Under the direction of musical wizard Magic Mendez (2007 American Black Music Award winner, "Best Neo Soul Vocalist, Male"), the Tribe uses harmonic and rhythmic sophistication to build bridges between generations and genres.

Independent from the get-go, Unified Tribe debuted in 2001 with "Listen to This," an album that was well received and resulted in a sizeable buzz for the group. They followed in 2003 with "Mixed Messages." The diverse sound of the disc and the strong musicianship solidified their fiercely loyal following for the group.

In 2006, Unified Tribe self-released "FUNKtional Family," their long-awaited third album. It was a hit, and became the group's first album to chart around the world when their 1st single release "Back and Forth" went #2 on Billboard's Hip-Hop/R&B Single Sales Chart and #17 on the Hot Single Sales Chart and the Album went #77 on the Hot Hip-Hop/R&B Songs Chart. "On Purpose", their sizzling 4th album is a rhythmic power play that delivers major musical mojo. The album is musical and emotional joyride that bridges generations and genres. One Planet! One Tribe!
