Is the Royal Guard Uniform worth it in totk? ›

Updated August 24th, 2023: The Royal Guard Uniform in TOTK can be rather beneficial in the early game for players who are looking for a way to boost their overall defense. That said, finding the Royal Guard Armor in Tears of the Kingdom requires players to venture into the ominous Hyrule Castle.

The Royal Guard Armor might not like the most impressive armor in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but it's an easy — and cheap — way to keep Link safe early in the game. It offers no special bonus.

The Royal Guard Set can not be dyed at the Hateno Dye Shop, but can be upgraded at the Great Fairy Fountains.

Within Hyrule Castle are two of every Item in the Royal Guard's Series, which reappear after each Blood Moon. Surrounding Hyrule Castle is one of each Item inside Treasure Chests, but they do not respawn.

The best set of armor in the game is the Zoanite Armor Set. The entire set has a base defense of 12 and a max defense of 84 when fully upgraded.

The armor can be upgraded at a Great Fairy Fountain up to four times. Each time you upgrade a piece of Royal Guard Armor, it will increase its defense stat and make the piece or pieces stronger.

While this is all pricey, it's well worth it, especially when dealing with the Guardians roaming Hyrule. The bow's got it in just about all areas, with a 44 base attack, 50 range, and a tank-like 120 durability. Basically, it'll be a while before you'll have to worry about it breaking.

When upgraded, the Royal Guard Armor set in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gives the 'Charge Atk. Stamina Up' set bonus, which means that Link's stamina consumed by charged attacks is decreased when he equips all three pieces of the set.

The pieces have no individual bonuses, but the Set Bonus is Charge Atk. Stamina Up, though there are two hidden boosts: Climbing Jump Stamina Up and Swim Dash Stamina Up.
